Kipp Podlewski, Director, Indirect Procurement Harley-Davidson Motor Company
Kipp will share his experience with purchasing and supply management at H-D and how the principles learned within Direct Materials management can be applied to Indirect spend management. He will also describe the transformation journey within Indirect Procurement that is on-going at H-D to deliver value and to become a true business advisor and deliver bottom line savings. In addition, Kipp will explore and share his experience with the use of outsourced service providers for the execution of procurement and supply management.
Kipp is responsible for all of the Procurement activities related to Harley-Davidson’s Indirect Spend. Kipp leads a team of professionals and service providers responsible for the procurement of +$1 billion of goods and services in categories such as IT, Marketing, Logistics, Human Resources, Professional Services, Capital Equipment, & MRO. Kipp’s team is focused on delivering business value through the execution of strategies to plan, source, contract, and manage H-D’s indirect supply. Podlewski joined Harley-Davidson in 1997 as a Purchasing Engineer. Since then he has worked in various supply management and operations leadership roles of increasing responsibility. Kipp has extensive global supply management experience having led teams in China, Czech Republic, Mexico, India, and Brazil. In addition, Kipp is extremely proud of his experience within H-D’s new product development organization developing exceptional motorcycles to fulfill customer’s dreams of personal freedom. Prior to joining Harley-Davidson, Kipp worked within purchasing at a Tier One automotive supplier, Varity Kelsey-Hayes. Kipp holds a BA degree in Integrated Supply Management from Western Michigan University and an MBA from Marquette University.
