“Communication & Connection: Insights from a Hostage Negotiator” inspires and educates professionals in techniques and tactics of high-level negotiation, communication, conflict resolution, and leadership presented by a SWAT hostage negotiator trained by the FBI.
As project managers, you will be leading individuals and teams that have competing interests, which will naturally lead to conflict. In this session, the attendees will be presented with a flexible framework they can use to effectively work through even the most challenging interactions.
Attendees will leave this session more confident and prepared to lead teams of people from a variety of backgrounds, handle these difficult conversations and situations and allowing them to find success for themselves, their teams, and the people they serve.
Speaker Background:
Scott Tillema is a retired SWAT hostage negotiator with over 20 years of law enforcement experience in the Chicago area. Educationally, Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, a master’s degree in psychology, and he was trained in negotiation by the FBI and at Harvard University.
Today, he is a Partner at The Negotiations Collective, an international negotiations and conflict resolution training firm. As a global keynote speaker and corporate trainer, Scott inspires audiences to use techniques of verbal influence to be powerful negotiators, effective conflict resolvers, and influential leaders.
In 2016, he was invited to give a TEDx talk titled “The Secrets of Hostage Negotiators”, which has received over 1 million views. His visibility as a speaker and educator through TEDx and other venues has reached global status.
Scott is a native of Greenfield, Wisconsin and a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
