FUTURE CITY
PMI Milwaukee/Southeast Wisconsin Chapter has been a proud sponsor of the Project Planning Award at the annual STEM Forward Wisconsin Regional program. The Future City Competition is a project-based learning activity that introduces middle school students to project management and the engineering design process. Students research, plan, and build a city that exists 100 years in the future while assessing risk and meeting a schedule.

Congratulations to the Umi-Tengoku team from Eisenhower Middle School for achieving this year’s Project Planning Award at the Wisconsin Regional Future City Competition!
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the Wisconsin Regionals possible at MSOE on January 18th – with a special highlight of the Chapter and National PMI awards judges and contributors: Jason Rowell (Astronautics Corporation of America), Devonne Wilhoit (ATC), Vijay Kumar, Olga Kolokolova, Tracey Harris, and Dave Clausen.
Additional support for this local program was provided by National PMI and PMI-EF; congratulations to Waukesha STEM Academy’s Aeolia team for achieving this year’s Outstanding Project Plan award!
This year, teams were challenged to design a floating city and provide two innovative examples of how the floating city works while keeping citizens healthy and safe. The Chapter is proud to partner with PMI, PMI-EF, STEM Forward, DiscoverE, and the Future City Competition to help keep project management front and center to answer an authentic, real-world question: How can we make the world a better place?
Congratulations to the Nuevo Comienz team from Waukesha STEM Academy who travels to Washington, DC for the Future City Competition Finals in February!
The 33rd annual Future City Competition for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade STEM students held this year's finals of the nationwide regional winners during Engineer’s week, at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.
As one of the nation’s leading engineering education programs and among the most popular, Future City is accessible to every student. The Future City competition recognizes the importance of inclusion and emphasizes participation from all students, male and female, all races and ethnicities and all economic levels. Participants come from middle schools, both public and private, can be home-schooled and can also be members of a nationally, regionally, or state-recognized youth-focused organization, such as the Boy and Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, or 4-H Clubs.
