Waukesha’s Quest for Great Lakes Water
Speaker Bio:
Dan joined the Waukesha Water Utility in January 2003 as the General Manager. Dan is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering from Marquette University. Dan had worked for the City of Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility, the City of Racine Water and Wastewater Utility and the City of Franklin prior to joining the Waukesha. Dan led the effort for Waukesha to obtain Great Lakes Water. He was involved in every aspect from the application through construction including negotiation of a water supplier, permit retention, water quality/transition issues, and intergovernmental agreements with the communities affected by construction.
Presentation Description:
Dan will discuss how the City of Waukesha addressed its water supply issues for the long term. He will cover various topics including studies to determine a new water supply for the city; obtaining approval for Great Lakes water; navigation the design through construction; the concern over water quality during the transition; to paying for the project.
