Speaker Bio:
Sandra is the Founder and CEO of The Kellan Group Incorporated. The Kellan Group is a project management consulting, forensics, and education consulting firm. Sandra is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wisconsin.
She believes that project management is a relationship-based profession and the principles of leadership, education and project management are the difference makers and the deal breakers. It is how we grow people and organizations and, more importantly, it is how we influence lives. By getting to know our team members from where they are rather than where we think that they must be.
As a speaker, mentor, educator, consultant, author and project manager, Sandra Hoskins is committed to working with people who want to create excellence in their life, whether at work, home, play or in their community. Sandra’s passions are project management and education. Her participation in these professions has taught her the importance of work-life balance.
Her personal motto is, “project management is a life skill.” When you think about it, project management is an approach to problem-solving, no more and no less. In other words, Make It So.
Presentation Description:
Release Your Inner Detective .. Using Investigative Communication Strategies to Create and Sustain a Platinum Medal Winning Team
Every project manager goes through communication and collaboration peaks and valleys. In truth, every team is different. Every team member has a primary learning style that impacts the way they communicate and more importantly the way that we need to communicate with them.
As with all communication, it starts with you. You need to release your inner detective. You need to be present when listening. You need to read to comprehend. TLDR is an excuse not a reason. Put on your Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Watson, Leroy Jethro Gills, Nancy Drew, Olivia Benson, or Kate Warne (first female private detective with Pinkertons) hat. Pick a one to learn from (even fictional detectives have valuable techniques). Develop your skills. Pay attention to the words. The words are the breadcrumbs that lead to creative communication solutions.
- Each person has a different learning style.
- Each person has a different behavioural style.
- Each person has a different reaction under stress.
- Each person has a different background.
Accept that you are the glue that holds them together. You can either contact cement or sticky tape.
Join the team at PMI Milwaukee and Sandra Hoskins to explore the world of investigative communication strategies.
