Speaker Bio: Andrew is a Scrum Master and Agile Coach in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His purpose is to help people be happy and engaged at work so they can take care of their customers by building great products. He wants people to wake up excited to go to work and be part of teams that are trusting, have psychological safety and are led by servant leaders who truly care for their people. The amazing benefits are not only happier people but better products and more satisfied customers. Andrew believes that Scrum provides the best tools to fulfill his purpose.

Overview:

As Agile adoption increases, many organizations continue to operate with a project mindset, limiting the benefits of Agile frameworks like Scrum. This session will explore the deeper mindset shift needed to truly be Agile moving beyond process compliance to focus on continuous value delivery, empowered teams, and sustainable flow. Designed for professionals with traditional project management backgrounds, the talk will highlight how key concepts like product thinking and flow metrics can help bridge the gap between structured plans and adaptive delivery.

Learning Objectives:

- Understand the shift from project delivery to product orientation

- Learn to manage uncertainty using flow metrics instead of estimates

- Explore how traditional project management roles evolve within Scrum teams

Key Topics:

- Product vs. Project Thinking: Focusing on long-term value over fixed scopes

- Letting Go of Estimates: Applying Cycle Time, Throughput, and WIP to manage flow

- Role Evolution: Transitioning from task management to enabling team success

This session offers practical insights to help project managers and leaders adapt to Agile ways of working, embracing a mindset that supports continuous improvement and real customer value.
